Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City

Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City is the eighth studio album by Ghostface Killah, released on September 29, 2009. Ghost first announced the album in a May 2008 interview, describing it as an R&B-inspired album. I really like this album!! Its Soulful Hip Hop at Ghostface's best.. It's a Love album as well, so the ladies can appreciate it. My least favorite part is probably the R&B aspect of it. I posted 3 of my favorites on here. Enjoy!

Alex Goose - The Blueprint 3 Outtakes

He came to Atlanta not too long ago, and is already killing the city with his Classic production style and art direction. Alex Goose is a producer and graphic artist. When I first met him I wanted him to be down with the Def Six, but he quickly started making moves on his own! He currently has a project The Blueprint 3 Outtakes. In the spring of 2009, he says he was approached by an A&R affiliated with the the ROC got in contact with him. Shortly after he had the opportunity to submit various tracks for Jay-Z's long awaited Blueprint 3 album. Unfortunately none of them made the cut. After letting people hear what he sent to HOVA (including people who know him), they all suggested he release them for the public to hear. This is what the Blueprint 3 could have been. Sugar Shack - Ernie Barnes

You know, for a minute, while I have always known I wanted to be in a creative music-driven industry, I was not so specifically certain of what I wanted to do with my career life as i am now. I was always juggling different ideas in my head. At one point I wanted to open a club. It would be named the "Sugar Shack" inspired by the painting above. I wanted to create a club with 2 levels. The bottom would be old school, "get up off of that floor, and dance!" type feel. While the top would be more for the younger crowd But still with a grown and sexy feel. Yall probably have seen this painting dozens of times, if you have ever watched the classic show "Good Times". This painting is still one of my favorites till this day. iPod Classic

I just ordered a new iPod Classic from E-bay. Woohoo!. I'm so excited! One because I love getting new shiny things. Two because I need one. The headphone jack in my current iPod is destroyed. :-( . I was sad because at first I thought my only option was to spend $250 on an iPod touch or a iPod classic 120gb that I didn't want. I wanted the old 5th Generation 30gb in pure black! But noooooo, they don't sell that in the Apple Stores anymore. Why can't they just keep it simple?! Why force upon us all the bells and whistles and touch screens. I can't stand that stuff!.... Thanks for e-bay! I found my 30gb simple ipod in black and it only cost me $129.99

Common - Gaining One's Definition (G.O.D.) ft. Cee-Lo

This song is so amazing, but highly slept on. It's one of my favorite Common tracks. And of course I love the concept and what he is talking about. The song is about simply knowing yourself (your Definition), and gaining knowledge from all walks of life; not just narrow-mindedly believing the first and only things that you are told.

And the First Time I Fell in Love with Hip Hop

Thanks to my friend Mike White for inspiring me to write this blog: The First Time I fell in Love with "Hip Hop" - I was 15ish years old. The year was 1996. I was visiting my sister, at the time a freshman at NYU, for the weekend at her New York dormitory. First of all growing up in New Jersey, New York had always been the bigger better cooler sibling that us Jersians looked up to. And hanging out in the big apple on some grown-up (college) type stuff, when I was just a mere junior in highschool was such an experience and so cool to me at the time! I fell in love with New York, I fell in love with College, I fell in love with Hip Hop. I just remember how cool it felt to be hanging out with the big girls in the big apple. We went out to different clubs, and I met some of my sisters friends, I rode the subway, and when it was time to just chill in the dorm, I remember the posters of my sisters roommate on the wall. Cormega and Mos Def and Tragedy Khadafi and more . I remember them blasting all kinds of music like Bjork and Outkast. Now , mind you up to this point I had always been a HUGE fan of music: rap and reggae and r&b. All the commercial stuff I heard on Hot 97. But I had never heard or seen of any of this genre of music before. It looked similar and felt similar to what I thought was rap, but it wasn't. It was so much more raw and real! I think the point that changed it all was when they were playing Outkast's The Art of Storytelling 2 (from the Aquemini album). That production was soooooo dope to me!! It was a wrap from there. I went home all amped about College, and New York and Music. Around that time, the whole Napster scene and P2P was just starting to take off. Before this point, I was dubbing mixes off of Hot 97 onto tapes and buying CD's in order to get my music fix. But by the time I entered college 2 years later, it was all free music downloading all the time!!! I was able to look up all the songs and artists that I remember hearing that one fine day, I became almost obsessed with downloading and finding new and different music that I wasn't getting from the radio. I started making mixes of the best of an artist, and burning them to CD and building a collection. Anytime someone would tell me about an artist I had never heard of , I would look them up, and If I liked what I heard I would look up a more and more, and burn a CD. It was great! In college I fell in love with Common, and Maxwell, and Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott. ( I was a big neo-soul fan then) But also Fionna Apple, and Jay Z and Ghostface and Eminem (as I got older). And before college I was already a fan of Pac and Biggie and Nas. I loved the roots reggae that my father played and the dance hall from the radio. I had an appreciation for classical as my mother is a classically trained pianist. I was in school in Maryland and became well-rounded, when I started listening to Go-Go and Baltimore club. And my older cousin was always having me listen to the classic's like Al Green, Marvin Gaye, etc (Telling me I needed to know about that music). I Just became a fan of classic music all around!! And I still am to this very day! I credit it all to the day I heard Outkast's - Art of Storytelling 2. That was the day I fell in love with Hip Hop. That was the day that saved my life!

Dubelyoo - Converting the Wack since 1999

This is by an artist named Dubelyoo. I heard of him first through a friend of mine. My friend knew I was interested in artistic things. He told me that a friend of a friend of his was an artist and he was having an art show called "My Uzi Weighs a Ton". I was a little skeptical at first, but when I looked up Dubelyoo and his works, I fell in love! I missed that art show, but follow him online every now and then. His stuff is great!
